Quality Assurance Engineer

SPIRE AG seeks a Mid-level Quality Assurance Engineer to manage non-conformances and ensure AS9100 compliance within its satellite operations. The role supports quality systems in a hybrid setup in Switzerland.

SPIRE AG, a space-to-cloud analytics firm operating the largest multi-purpose satellite constellation, is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer. This position focuses on resolving non-conformances in cleanroom and operational satellite environments, ensuring that engineering changes and supplier outputs meet strict quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to resolve non-conformances.
• Track and report on in-process quality metrics.
• Oversee supplier non-conformance issues and monitor vendor performance.
• Act as the primary contact for engineering technical questions.
• Create, update, and enforce Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
• Perform internal audits aligned with AS9100 requirements.
• Join external audits of suppliers.
• Help validate and implement engineering modifications for spacecraft.
• Assist in drafting Quality Control Notices (QCNs), manufacturing workflows, and work instructions.
• Maintain the equipment database and verify instrument calibration.
• Support incoming goods inspections to confirm quality standards.
• Participate in projects aimed at improving quality and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• HND in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Previous experience in Quality Engineering, ideally within manufacturing or engineering sectors.
• Proficiency in RCCA methodologies, including 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, FMEA, and Pareto analysis.
• Solid knowledge of AS9100 standards; ISO 9001:2015 experience is also acceptable.
• Ability to adapt and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Competence in using Microsoft Office applications.

Nice to have

• AS9100 Internal Auditor Certification.
• Capability to interpret mechanical and schematic drawings.
• Background in aerospace, defense, or other high-tech industries.
