ETH Zurich seeks a Scientific Assistant to design and test high-performance antenna arrays for next-generation wireless systems. This fixed-term role focuses on PCB design, automated testing, and validation within a collaborative research environment.
The position aims to advance next-generation communication, computation, and sensing technologies by integrating high-performance antennas into cutting-edge wireless systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and refining antenna arrays, ensuring they function effectively within complex operational environments.
Responsibilities
- Create and optimize antenna and array designs using commercial PCB technologies.
- Develop antenna array PCBs that integrate with wireless ICs to form operational systems.
- Design test control PCBs specifically for antenna array configurations.
- Establish measurement setups and facilitate automated testing of antenna arrays alongside wireless ICs.
- Direct test campaigns and analyze results to verify performance across various operating conditions.
- Investigate and document any anomalies found during testing procedures.
- Compile formal test reports for internal reviews and project deliverables.
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks to enhance repeatability, traceability, and efficiency.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microelectronics, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience in applied electromagnetics and antenna design.
- Background in printed-circuit board (PCB) design.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced research settings.
- Excellent proficiency in English for communication.
Nice to have
- Experience in microwave engineering and advanced electromagnetics.
- Hands-on electronics testing using Keysight and R&S equipment.
