Senior Electrical Engineer

Kanadevia Inova seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in Zürich to lead electrical basic engineering for Waste-to-X plants, focusing on power systems, equipment sizing, and cross-functional coordination.

This position is responsible for directing the electrical basic engineering phase for Waste-to-X facilities. The role ensures that electrical designs align with client needs and regulatory requirements while supporting the company's mission to transform waste into valuable resources like energy and fertilizer.

Responsibilities

• Direct the electrical basic engineering process for Waste-to-X plants, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
• Create electrical concepts, single-line diagrams, and overall system architectures.
• Conduct power system analyses, including short circuit, load flow, and protection coordination studies using specialized software.
• Select and size critical components such as transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and instrument transformers.
• Manage interfaces between electrical systems and work with plant layout teams on cable routing and equipment placement.
• Draft technical specifications, assess supplier proposals, and support vendor selection.
• Facilitate design and technical review sessions with clients and network operators.
• Serve as the product owner for electrical systems, offering expert advice, establishing processes, and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• Proven experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems and industrial plant design.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools like DigSilent, ETAP, and relay configuration software such as Siemens DIGSI and IEC 61850.
• Strong capability to read, interpret, and design electrical schematics and related documentation.
• Solid grasp of project scheduling, cost management, and deliverables for electrical projects.
• High level of autonomy, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make timely decisions within defined limits.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills, with confidence in cross-functional communication and technical documentation.
• Competence in MS Office and a commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with engineering tools such as EPLAN and Siemens SIMARIS.
