Novartis seeks a Senior Legal Counsel for Real Estate & Commercial Contracting in Basel. This hybrid role requires a qualified Swiss lawyer to manage complex transactions, mitigate risk, and support business growth across Switzerland and globally.
The company is looking for a trusted business partner to provide strategic legal guidance on real estate, facilities, commercial contracting, and environmental issues. The position involves collaborating with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive critical projects, manage risk, and influence key decisions that support business expansion.
Responsibilities
- Deliver strategic legal advice on intricate real estate, facilities, and commercial contracting issues.
- Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of high-value transactional agreements.
- Collaborate with global and local stakeholders to identify potential risks and implement practical solutions.
- Assist with mergers, acquisitions, licensing deals, and other strategic business transactions.
- Manage external counsel and ensure effective oversight of legal expenditures.
- Provide counsel on environmental, health, safety, and sustainability-related legal matters within Switzerland.
- Create legal processes, guidance, and training materials to facilitate informed business decision-making.
Requirements
- Must hold a qualification as a Swiss lawyer with substantial post-qualification experience in commercial contracting and real estate.
- Demonstrated track record of supporting complex real estate transactions in industry or private practice.
- Deep expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Proven ability to lead negotiations and manage multiple legal projects independently.
- Capacity to prioritize competing deadlines and produce high-quality work in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across global, cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building abilities with a collaborative approach.
Nice to have
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and German is highly preferred.
What the company offers
- Expected annual base salary range of CHF146,300.00 - CHF271,700.00.
- Eligibility for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.
