Senior Network Software Development Engineer Linux / C++

Ruag seeks a Senior Network Software Development Engineer in Zürich to build secure C++ solutions for Swiss defense and emergency networks.

This position plays a direct part in safeguarding Switzerland by developing critical network software for the Swiss Armed Forces and various emergency and security organizations. The engineer will focus on creating efficient communication systems across LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement efficient software for network communication across LAN, WLAN, and WAN.
• Define software architecture concepts with a specific emphasis on network performance and Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
• Develop C++ applications using agile methodologies, covering the full lifecycle from analysis to implementation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to troubleshoot software issues and ensure high product quality.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Professional background in object-oriented development using C, C++, or Python within network technology.
• Deep expertise in Linux and network engineering, including IP protocols at all layers, routing, and the Linux Netlink layer.
• Fluency in either German or English.

Nice to have

• Experience in embedded security areas such as TPM, Secure Boot, or System Management.
• A strong desire to improve German language proficiency.
