SIX Group seeks a Senior Observability Engineer in Zürich to build and deliver observability and AIOps capabilities as a shared service, establishing standards and supporting production-grade cloud-native environments.
This hands-on position focuses on establishing observability and AIOps as a shared engineering capability. The role involves defining how these practices are designed, implemented, and consumed across teams, while leading early adopter onboarding and shaping practical standards and workflows. The engineer will serve as a core contributor to the Observability & AIOps Center of Excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage observability and AIOps solutions for cloud-native and hybrid setups to ensure reliable, production-grade services.
- Guide early adopter teams through onboarding, establishing standards for telemetry, SLIs, SLOs, and alerting in live systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, SRE, and operations teams to gather requirements and convert them into actionable observability and automation solutions.
- Develop and maintain telemetry pipelines, dashboards, and alerting mechanisms using OpenTelemetry to provide meaningful insights and minimize operational noise.
- Operate and enhance observability services within Kubernetes environments, utilizing Helm and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and integrating with ITSM, ticketing, and event management systems.
Requirements
- Over five years of hands-on experience in observability, SRE, platform, or reliability engineering, with a focus on operating and supporting production systems.
- Proven track record of building or scaling observability capabilities, preferably in greenfield or early-stage environments, and translating requirements into working solutions.
- Strong practical knowledge of modern observability practices, including OpenTelemetry, metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting.
- Solid experience with cloud-native environments, operating Kubernetes-based workloads using Helm and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience with common observability toolchains (such as Grafana and Elastic Stack), with scripting or automation skills considered a plus.
