Senior Application Engineer (100%)

SIX Group seeks a Senior Application Engineer in Zürich to develop and support IT applications in post-trading connectivity. The role requires strong Java and DevOps skills, with a focus on agile environments and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain IT applications for post-trading connectivity using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, and related frameworks, working closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Provide 3rd-level application support and incident management within SLA limits, including ITSM processes, service desk coordination, problem resolution, and participation in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately every 4–6 weeks) using Jira and Confluence.
• Deploy and manage application releases across Development, Test, and Production environments (OCP, Linux) using CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Maven, and JFrog.
• Follow architectural, security, and compliance standards throughout development, applying best practices with tools like SonarQube and XRAY.
• Improve application SLAs, monitoring, and automation using Grafana, Elastic, and Ansible, while proactively managing technical debt.
• Collaborate with Application Architects, Solution Designers, Project Teams, and Developers to ensure alignment and effective delivery.

Requirements

• 9–14 years of hands-on experience in software development, application maintenance, and production support, with a focus on resolving critical issues.
• Strong experience with Java technologies including Spring Boot and JPA/Hibernate, and relational databases such as Oracle and MS SQL.
• Proficiency in DevOps and automation tools including Git, Maven, Helm 3, Ansible, and Argo CD.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments, including flexibility to work outside regular hours for production support.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Experience with C/C++ is advantageous.
• Domain knowledge in banking or post-trading services is beneficial.
