Senior Observability Engineer

SIX Financial Information seeks a Senior Observability Engineer in Zürich to build and deliver shared observability and AIOps capabilities across cloud-native and hybrid environments.

This hands-on position focuses on establishing observability and AIOps as a shared engineering service. The successful candidate will define how these capabilities are designed, implemented, and adopted across teams, while serving as a core contributor to the Observability & AIOps Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage observability and AIOps solutions for cloud-native and hybrid setups.
• Guide early-adopter teams through onboarding, establishing standards for telemetry, SLIs, SLOs, and alerting.
• Collaborate with engineering, SRE, and operations groups to translate requirements into practical observability and automation solutions.
• Develop and maintain telemetry pipelines, dashboards, and alerting systems using OpenTelemetry.
• Operate and enhance observability services within Kubernetes clusters, utilizing Helm and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

Requirements

• At least five years of practical experience in observability, SRE, platform, or reliability engineering.
• Proven track record of building or scaling observability capabilities, preferably in greenfield or early-stage environments.
• Deep practical understanding of modern observability practices, including OpenTelemetry, metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting.
• Strong experience with cloud-native environments, managing Kubernetes-based workloads using Helm and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Familiarity with common observability toolchains (such as Grafana and Elastic Stack).

• Scripting or automation skills.
