Senior Scientist, Technical Project Lead

CSL Behring Vifor seeks a Senior Scientist and Technical Project Lead in Switzerland to manage complex pharmaceutical projects, technology transfers, and external manufacturing partnerships.

The company operates as a global partner in pharmaceuticals and innovative therapies, with a specific focus on iron deficiency and nephrology. Based in St. Gallen, Switzerland, the organization handles strategic partnering, in-licensing, development, manufacturing, and marketing. This role serves as a central technical leader to drive project execution and ensure successful product lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical projects from start to finish, including technology transfers, product lifecycle management, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Create and manage detailed Project Execution Plans that define milestones, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
• Direct cross-functional teams of technical experts and coordinate with external manufacturing partners.
• Manage project governance by tracking budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, KPIs, and reporting progress.
• Draft governance documents, business cases, decision papers, and escalation packages.
• Serve as the main technical contact for Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and other external partners.
• Conduct technical due diligence, assess manufacturing sites, and evaluate alternative sourcing strategies.
• Provide on-site support at manufacturing facilities during critical project phases to monitor progress and solve technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading technical projects in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or related industries.
• Background in leading technology transfers, product or process transfers, lifecycle management, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to independently lead complex, cross-functional projects from initiation to completion.
• Experience working with external manufacturing organizations such as CMOs or CDMOs.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Solid understanding of GMP requirements and CMC lifecycle management.
• Technical background in CMC Development, Technical Transfer, Process Development, Manufacturing Science, or Commercial Manufacturing.
• German language skills are considered an advantage.
• Experience working in an international, multicultural environment.
