Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

Google seeks a versatile Senior Software Engineer in Zürich to develop full-stack technologies that connect billions of users, requiring strong coding skills in C++, Java, and TypeScript.

This position focuses on building next-generation tools that transform how users interact with information and each other. The engineer will contribute to a critical project with the flexibility to move between teams, addressing complex challenges across the entire technology stack while demonstrating leadership and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate code for new products or system enhancements.
• Lead or participate in design reviews to select the most suitable technologies alongside stakeholders.
• Evaluate peer code to ensure adherence to best practices and quality standards.
• Update technical documentation and educational materials based on product changes and user insights.
• Diagnose, track, and resolve system issues by analyzing their impact on network, hardware, or service quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least five years of professional software development experience.
• Three years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• Proficiency in C++, Java, and TypeScript.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Five years of experience working with data structures and algorithms.
• One year of experience in a technical leadership capacity.
• Background in developing accessible technologies.
• Strong interest in frontend development and enhancing user experience.
