Speechify seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Lausanne to lead Windows desktop application development using C#, WinUI, and the Windows App SDK in a fully remote environment.

This position focuses on architecting and building native Windows desktop solutions that align with Speechify’s mission to remove reading barriers. The engineer will own the full feature lifecycle, ensuring high performance, accessibility, and code quality within a distributed team structure.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop native Windows desktop applications utilizing the Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for Windows desktop development across the entire codebase.
  • Implement and verify accessibility API support to ensure inclusive user experiences.
  • Partner with product designers, UX researchers, QA teams, and stakeholders to define feature roadmaps.
  • Manage features from initial concept through to long-term maintenance and updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues including performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and compatibility errors.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience developing Windows desktop applications with the Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML.
  • Deep knowledge of Windows application architecture, including interoperability between .NET managed code and native code.
  • Demonstrated history of designing, building, and shipping production-ready desktop software.
  • Strong proficiency with Windows accessibility APIs.
  • Solid engineering fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading.
  • Experience leading technical designs, mentoring peers, conducting code reviews, and making architectural decisions.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience writing automated UI tests, including unit, integration, and UI automation tests.
  • Background in optimizing performance for desktop applications.
  • Knowledge of localization, globalization, and internationalization processes.
  • Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring tools.
  • Previous involvement in shaping CI/CD workflows and release pipelines.
  • Proven ability to take long-term ownership of specific feature areas.
