IT Software Development Engineer

SHL Medical seeks a Junior IT Software Development Engineer in Zürich to build and maintain internal applications using Microsoft Power Platform and modern front-end frameworks. The role requires professional English and Mandarin Chinese skills.

This position supports the creation and upkeep of internal applications and system integrations within SHL Medical's digital ecosystem. The engineer will work with cloud and on-premise solutions, collaborate across teams, and help optimize business workflows and system connectivity.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain front-end interfaces using contemporary frameworks like React.js.
• Develop applications and automate workflows utilizing Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Engage in system integration tasks involving RESTful APIs and related integration technologies.
• Apply standard development practices, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and testing procedures.
• Review code and apply feedback to enhance quality and maintainability.
• Work within an agile team setting, contributing to discussions and problem-solving.
• Create and update technical documentation for implemented solutions.
• Ensure all development work complies with SHL IT security, privacy, and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
• Experience administering Microsoft Power Platform ecosystems, including designing and implementing Canvas Apps, Model-Driven Apps, and Power Automate Cloud Flows.
• Knowledge of application lifecycle management, deployment, and CI/CD processes within the Power Platform.
• Basic proficiency in software development using languages like .NET or TypeScript.
• Understanding of front-end technologies, particularly React.js.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and system integration concepts.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with version control tools like Git.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a willingness to learn.
• Effective communication skills for collaborative, cross-cultural environments.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals certification.
• Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL-400 and/or PL-600).
• Understanding of software testing concepts like unit and integration testing.
• Awareness of agile development methodologies.
• Experience or interest in developing custom components using Power Apps Code Apps and the PowerApps Component Framework (PCF).
• Familiarity with AI capabilities in the Microsoft Power Platform, including AI Builder, Copilot features, and basic understanding of Azure OpenAI Service and prompt engineering.
