Julius Bär seeks a Senior System Architect in Zürich to design solution architectures for finance and credit applications, ensuring alignment with global IT standards and SAP ecosystems.
This position sits within the global IT Architecture team, where the incumbent collaborates with Domain and Foundation Architects to shape solution designs. The role serves as a critical link to Software Engineering, guiding teams to ensure that implemented software adheres to target architectures while fostering an entrepreneurial approach to creating value.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and ownership of solution architectures for applications throughout their delivery lifecycle.
- Verify that proposed solutions comply with established architecture standards and align with domain target models.
- Identify and manage architecture debt arising from gaps between current transition states and desired target architectures.
- Drive architecture decisions by documenting them as Architecture Decision Records (ADR) and securing approval from relevant governance boards.
- Mentor and advise software engineers on technical feasibility and proper implementation of architectural designs.
- Provide support during subsequent software lifecycle phases, including testing, release management, and operational stability.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years as a senior architect and five years in lead or senior software engineering roles.
- End-to-end responsibility for solution architectures, spanning design, implementation, and ongoing operation.
- Strong capability to evaluate architectural options and make informed trade-off decisions.
- Hands-on experience with SAP environments, specifically S/4HANA, BW/HANA, and BTP.
- Solid grasp of Financial and Management Accounting principles.
- Familiarity with IFRS and Swiss GAAP standards within the financial services sector.
- Ability to analyze intricate business needs and convert them into viable technical solutions.
- Skill in abstracting complex issues to focus on core architectural decisions.
- Experience collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to coordinate solutions.
- Proven track record in solution design using modern styles such as event-driven architectures, microservices, or modular monoliths.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Capacity to work proactively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
