SonarSource seeks a Staff Full Stack Engineer in Geneva to lead development of SonarQube Server and Cloud, focusing on code quality and security for enterprise clients. The role requires deep expertise in Java, React, cloud-native systems, and scalable architecture.
This role is part of an engineering team dedicated to advancing SonarQube Server and Cloud as top-tier tools for code quality and security. The team serves large enterprise customers and drives product evolution to meet the needs of a broad user base.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineering managers to shape impactful features and improve product usability.
- Lead end-to-end development of features, emphasizing user experience and ensuring quality via thorough unit and integration testing.
- Architect cloud-based products, guiding technical direction to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Own the team’s delivery capability, proactively ensuring successful completion of development initiatives.
- Manage the release lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning of features in production.
- Serve as a technical lead for resolving complex, high-priority production issues affecting product features.
- Mentor engineers, helping them grow in autonomy, system understanding, and technical skills.
- Promote and improve development processes to increase team efficiency.
- Shape the team’s technical roadmap, defining both long-term goals and short-term priorities.
- Initiate and lead major cross-functional engineering projects.
- Design and run high-impact experiments to validate product decisions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Prior experience in a Staff Engineer, Tech Lead, or similar leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with backend development in Java and frontend development using JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make collaborative technical decisions.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code with awareness of design patterns and system architecture.
- Advanced understanding of engineering processes, software architecture, and system optimization.
- Proven expertise in building resilient systems and applying operational best practices.
- Solid technical foundation in core computer science principles.
- Experience designing cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Experience with relational databases such as Postgres and SQL.
- Familiarity with code quality practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and constructive code reviews.
- Extensive experience with experimentation and integrating customer feedback into development.
- Practical experience building distributed systems serving millions of users.
