Strategic Buyer - Meat & Poultry

LUCUL Production et Distribution S.A. in Zürich seeks a Senior Strategic Buyer for Meat & Poultry. The role involves leading category strategy, managing supplier relationships, and driving performance in a hybrid work environment.

This role leads the end-to-end strategy for the meat and poultry category, balancing commercial goals with quality, sustainability, and supply reliability. It collaborates with suppliers, internal teams, and leadership to shape a competitive, customer-focused product offering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the category strategy for meat and poultry across the retail portfolio
• Manage supplier relationships, including negotiations, tender processes, and long-term contracts
• Focus on cost reduction, margin growth, and value creation within the category
• Maintain high standards for quality, traceability, and food safety compliance
• Track market trends, pricing, and competitor actions to inform strategy
• Work with marketing, sales, and supply chain on product assortment and promotional planning
• Support sustainability goals, including responsible sourcing and animal welfare practices
• Use performance data to continuously improve category results

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in strategic buying or category management in retail, food, or FMCG
• Solid understanding of fresh food categories, especially meat and/or poultry
• Commercial focus with expertise in pricing, margins, and supplier interactions
• Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and build strategic partnerships
• Strong collaboration skills across different departments
• Analytical ability to turn data into practical business insights
• Fluency in German and English
