Senior Specialist - Procurement Category Manager Consumables

On Holding AG seeks a Senior Specialist - Procurement Category Manager Consumables in Zürich to lead strategic sourcing and category management for packaging materials across global regions.

This position sits within the Global Procurement team and reports to the Senior Lead - Procurement Category Manager, Logistics. The role is a key part of the Global Supply Chain Transformation, focusing on strategic sourcing and category management for high-impact consumables across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement adaptable category management strategies for essential packing supplies, including corrugate, tape, and void fill.
• Drive sourcing efforts and develop business cases for packaging projects, ensuring choices align with sustainability targets and thorough analysis.
• Build and sustain partnerships with worldwide packaging suppliers to guarantee quality, operational transparency, and accountability.
• Identify and implement value engineering solutions to improve packaging design, minimize waste, and lower total cost of ownership.
• Coordinate with supply chain, operations, and finance teams to align on specifications, lead times, and inventory levels.
• Develop and standardize internal reporting to track spend, multi-channel packaging usage, and supplier performance.
• Resolve supply chain issues related to consumables and create action plans to optimize business performance and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with product and sustainability groups to test and introduce eco-friendly packaging materials that support the company's mission.

Requirements

• Ability to perform and explain operational root cause analysis regarding packaging performance and distribution efficiency.
• Skill in building trust and credibility with external vendors and internal stakeholders during technical and commercial negotiations.
• Proactive mindset focused on business optimization and cost savings through data-driven business cases.
• Capacity to maintain and track critical action items and serve as the primary source of truth for consumables data.
• Resilience and persistence to navigate market fluctuations in raw materials as a change agent.
• Strong ability to work independently, manage data-intensive projects, and engage with remote teams.
• Excellent discretion, judgment, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive commercial information.
• Solid business judgment to anticipate the impact of procurement decisions on the global supply chain.
• Energetic, positive, and helpful demeanor with a passion for On Running.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of college education and related work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, category management, or a specialized packaging role in a fast-paced environment.
• Expert knowledge and proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Proficiency with modern sourcing and procurement tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, or similar platforms).
