Global Category Manager (m/f/d)

HHJ BAU GmbH seeks a Global Category Manager in Zug, CH, to lead procurement strategy for mechanical and engineered components, focusing on cost optimization and supplier management.

This position is responsible for shaping and executing a worldwide procurement approach for mechanical and engineered parts. The role aims to enhance total cost of ownership via cost modeling and value engineering while ensuring supply continuity through strategic sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute a worldwide procurement plan for mechanical and engineered parts.
• Enhance total cost of ownership by applying cost modeling, design-to-cost methods, and value engineering.
• Build and upkeep costed BOM frameworks to aid product lifecycle choices and ensure cost transparency.
• Manage sourcing projects, including supplier selection, dual sourcing strategies, and qualification processes.
• Conduct commercial negotiations regarding pricing, capacity, quality, and compliance.
• Drive ongoing cost reductions and TCO optimization.
• Assess and enhance supplier performance across quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
• Improve sourcing strategy effectiveness across regions and production sites.
• Support innovation, product cost targets, and sustainability objectives.
• Foster team capability growth and talent development.
• Identify opportunities for value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) and supplier-led innovation.

Requirements

• Degree in a relevant field (Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering or similar).
• Extensive background in Global Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain within technically oriented or industrial environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing global categories for electrical, electronic, or electromechanical components.
• Strong track record in cost optimization, supplier negotiations, and risk management.
• Solid understanding of cost structures for engineered components.
• Experience with procurement systems and analytics tools (e.g., SAP, Ariba or similar).
• Fluent in English.
