Senior Category Manager (Procurement)

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Category Manager in Zug to lead procurement strategies for Primary Packaging within its Innovative Medicine division, requiring extensive experience in regulated markets.

This position is responsible for providing end-to-end leadership over the Primary Packaging portfolio for JNJ Innovative Medicine. The role spans the entire lifecycle from development through commercialization and base business management. It also holds the potential to expand its scope in the near future, possibly including people management duties.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute comprehensive procurement strategies that align with business objectives, covering sourcing, negotiations, and contract execution.
• Manage critical supplier relationships, communicate strategic shifts, and oversee contract negotiations with senior leadership.
• Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders in Supply Chain and Research & Development.
• Influence internal teams regarding supplier selection for new product developments and introductions.
• Prioritize and lead procurement-specific initiatives, providing regular updates to Global Procurement Leadership.
• Potentially manage a team as the category scope evolves.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university qualification.
• Deep proficiency in core procurement disciplines such as category management, supplier performance, market analysis, should-cost modeling, negotiations, and contracting.
• Extensive background in Primary Packaging.
• Strong experience operating in regulated markets, including pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
• Expertise in contracting, with a solid understanding of regulatory, legal, compliance, and commercial factors.
• Proven people management and coaching abilities, with experience influencing direct reports, peers, and internal stakeholders.

Nice to have

• An MBA or equivalent Master’s degree.
• Experience working across multiple countries and sectors.
• Formal education or training in negotiation techniques.
