Escatec Switzerland AG seeks a Senior Procurement Commodity Manager to lead commodity strategy, optimize the supplier ecosystem, and drive cost competitiveness within its global EMS operations.
This senior role is responsible for directing the commodity management function and enhancing supply chain performance across a worldwide electronics manufacturing services portfolio. The position offers direct visibility to executive leadership and involves owning the end-to-end strategy for assigned commodity groups while providing functional guidance to the Corporate Procurement Executive team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement multi-year strategies for key categories including semiconductors, PCBs, plastics, metals, and electro-mechanical components.
- Establish and sustain a robust, dual-sourced supplier network to ensure competitive advantage and supply continuity.
- Conduct pricing negotiations, secure long-term agreements, manage rebate programs, and improve payment terms.
- Achieve cost reductions through benchmarking, value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), alternative sourcing, and should-cost modeling.
- Mitigate supply chain risks related to allocation, obsolescence, geopolitical factors, and single-source dependencies.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate the CPE Commodity Team, setting clear KPIs and conducting performance reviews.
- Oversee team workload, prioritization, and program coverage for both new product introduction (NPI) and production phases.
- Champion supply chain digitalization (EDI/VMI/INFOR), sustainability initiatives (CSRD/CSDDD), and global procurement alignment.
- Produce commodity market intelligence reports, drive supplier consolidation, improve CBOM processes, and manage high-priority supply escalations.
- Collaborate with SCM, Engineering, Quality, Legal, and Finance to align procurement outcomes with program goals.
- Represent the procurement department in customer discussions, factory visits, and supplier commercial reviews.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of direct procurement experience within an EMS or electronics manufacturing context.
- At least 5 years in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or a senior buyer role with category ownership.
- Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation, cost savings delivery, and supplier development.
- Experience leading and developing procurement or supply chain teams.
- Background in supporting NPI programs within an EMS environment.
- Deep understanding of electronic component markets, EMS pricing structures, and supply chain dynamics.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, trade compliance (conflict minerals, UFLPA, EAR/ITAR), and customer Codes of Conduct.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (INFOR LN or SAP MM preferred), advanced Excel, and quoting platforms like Luminovo.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills in English.

- Professional certification such as CPSM, CIPS, or CSCP.
