The University of St.Gallen seeks a student assistant to build an AI-driven forecasting platform for African economic and political trends, combining strategic management research with data science.
This position supports academic research at the crossroads of strategic management and artificial intelligence. The primary objective is to develop the first interactive platform that utilizes AI to forecast economic and political developments across the African continent.
Responsibilities
- Construct an interactive forecasting tool leveraging existing AI technologies.
- Extract data from prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi regarding African economic and political topics.
- Create and test autonomous agents designed for forecasting tasks.
- Assess the accuracy of AI predictions and compare them against market-based forecasts.
- Perform data analysis and provide research support.
- Manage and update the project website and dashboard.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an advanced Bachelor's or Master's student in Management, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, AI, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated interest in strategic management, forecasting methodologies, and artificial intelligence.
- Practical experience working with large language models and AI agents.
- Fluent English communication skills at C1 level or above.
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of ownership.
- Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Analytical mindset with structured and detail-oriented work habits.
Nice to have
- Basic programming and data analysis capabilities, such as proficiency in Python.
