Teaching and Research Assistant at the Institute of Design and Architecture

ETH Zurich seeks a mid-level Teaching and Research Assistant for the Institute of Design and Architecture, based in Zürich. The role involves supporting chair team projects, contributing architectural expertise, preparing teaching materials, and supervising students. The position is fixed-term, hybrid, and starts in September 2026.

The Institute of Design and Architecture (D-ARCH) at ETH Zurich is a leading center for architectural research and education, focusing on design at building, urban, landscape, and territorial scales. Responsibilities

• Support chair team projects and contribute to their execution
• Apply architectural and technical knowledge to project work
• Prepare and organize materials for teaching and research activities
• Guide and supervise students as they develop their design projects

Requirements

• Architectural professional with 2 to 3 or more years of experience
• Fluent communication skills in English and (Swiss) German

Nice to have

• Knowledge of French is considered an asset
• Interest in establishing your own architectural practice
• Preference for hands-on, construction-related work
• Prior experience in construction is beneficial
