Novartis seeks a Director to lead the PK Sciences Immunology team in Basel, overseeing pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacology strategies for the immunology portfolio.
The company is looking for a senior scientific leader to direct a cross-functional organization covering pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacology, bioanalysis, and quantitative pharmacology. This role is pivotal in shaping integrated development strategies for the immunology portfolio, ensuring high-quality decisions across discovery, early, and late-stage development phases.
Responsibilities
- Establish and execute integrated strategies for platforms and programs from initial discovery through to regulatory registration.
- Facilitate data-driven decision-making to create differentiated development approaches for immunology treatments.
- Manage pharmacokinetic, clinical pharmacology, bioanalytical, and quantitative pharmacology inputs for regulatory submissions and supporting documents.
- Ensure high-quality scientific contributions to health authority interactions and regulatory strategy discussions.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with discovery, development, regulatory, and partner teams to ensure efficient program execution.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing scientific team, providing oversight for PKS Immunology scientists.
- Act as a scientific thought leader by engaging in collaborations, publishing research, presenting at forums, and participating in scientific communities.
- Drive operational excellence through disciplined execution, continuous improvement, and effective resource utilization.
- Utilize digital tools, AI, and automation to improve insight generation, efficiency, and decision-making processes.
Requirements
- PhD or PharmD in pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- At least 12 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including senior leadership roles in preclinical and clinical drug research and development.
- Proven experience in people leadership, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, and developing scientific talent.
- Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements and experience contributing to submissions such as INDs, IMPDs, NDAs, and BLAs.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment and influence across teams and organizational levels.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of scientific rigor and sound judgment.
Nice to have
- Experience in immunological disease.
- Experience in bioanalytical assay development and immunogenicity assessments.
- Demonstrated experience across different modalities, including small molecules, mAbs, and potentially CAR-T cell therapies.
- Familiarity with late-stage development and registration-enabling activities.
- Experience applying digital tools, AI, or machine learning to scientific decision-making and development execution.
- Track record of external scientific visibility through publications, presentations, or industry/academic engagement.

- Expected Annual Base Salary Range: 169,400.00 - 314,600.00 CHF Annual
