Application Developer - Java/PHP

Coopers Group AG seeks a Mid-level Application Developer in Basel to build and maintain Java/PHP applications, manage databases, and support system integrations on-site.

This position focuses on the creation and upkeep of essential software solutions. The developer ensures that various systems work together smoothly and contributes to the overall stability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build and sustain applications primarily using Java and PHP technologies.
• Design, refine, and manage SQL queries and database schemas to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and maintain APIs to facilitate connections between internal and external services.
• Handle administration and troubleshooting tasks within Linux-based server environments.
• Work closely with diverse teams to implement reliable IT solutions.
• Take part in code reviews, testing phases, and documentation efforts.
• Provide on-call availability during scheduled evenings and weekends to maintain system uptime.

Requirements

• Demonstrated professional experience in both Java and PHP development.
• Deep understanding of advanced SQL techniques and relational database architecture.
• Practical background in creating and integrating APIs.
• Competent skills in administering Linux operating systems.
• Strong ability to solve problems and communicate effectively.
• Capacity to collaborate within a team while also working autonomously.
• Readiness to participate in an on-call rotation for evenings and weekends.

Nice to have

• Experience with DevOps practices and managing efficient deployment pipelines.
