Backend Developer 100% – Basel

Optravis LLC in Basel seeks a mid-level Backend Developer for a full-time onsite role. The position involves enhancing the Transfer Pricing Management Tool and developing new applications on the Tax Platform using Java/Kotlin and microservice architecture.

As part of an agile development team, the Backend Developer will contribute to improving the existing Transfer Pricing Management Tool and building new applications on the Tax Platform. The role supports a microservice-based architecture, allowing flexibility in technology choices for performance and user experience. Opportunities for client interaction and travel may be available based on background and interest.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, efficient Java/Kotlin backend code
• Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and overall quality
• Detect and resolve system bottlenecks and bugs
• Support code quality through organization, automation, and best practices
• Collaborate with clients in workshops to define project requirements
• Explore and test emerging technologies for potential integration

Requirements

• Ability to develop backend services, preferably in Java or Kotlin
• Experience designing RESTful APIs
• Commitment to clean code, simple solutions, automated testing, and continuous deployment
• Familiarity with design and architectural patterns
• Experience with test-driven development
• Knowledge of build tools like Gradle
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Nice to have

• Experience with frontend technologies, especially TypeScript, React, and Tailwind
• German language skills
