Applied AI Engineer

Bjakcareer in Zürich seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer to develop AI features end-to-end, turning model capabilities into reliable, real-world product behavior. The role combines machine learning, systems, and product to deliver a smart assistant for everyday users.

This role focuses on translating AI model capabilities into practical, reliable product features, working across machine learning, systems, and product. The goal is to ensure AI functions effectively in real-world use, not just in demonstrations, by owning problems from design to production.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver AI features from model to user interface, ensuring seamless integration
• Create and refine prompts, tools, memory systems, and agent workflows for AI behavior
• Transform unstructured model outputs into consistent, dependable, and predictable results
• Diagnose and resolve issues across the entire stack, including models, orchestration, infrastructure, and user experience
• Improve system performance by optimizing latency, cost, and reliability in production
• Build lightweight evaluation methods to track real-world AI performance
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to convert vague challenges into functional systems

Requirements

• Solid understanding of machine learning and modern neural network architectures
• Practical experience in training, fine-tuning, or deploying machine learning models
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code
• Experience working across different technical layers, from models to infrastructure to product
• Strong problem-solving abilities in uncertain and fast-paced environments
• Preference for shipping results, iterating quickly, and continuously improving systems
