Vistra Zürich AG seeks a Senior AI Engineer in AI, CH to build and optimize end-to-end machine learning pipelines and AI-driven data solutions.

The company aims to simplify global business complexities to drive client progress. In this permanent, full-time role, the engineer reports to the Engineering Lead and focuses on creating robust AI systems that streamline operations and enhance product capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete machine learning lifecycle, including data processing, model fine-tuning, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization while applying MLOps standards.
  • Design custom AI workflows that combine neural networks, decision trees, and rule-based systems to solve specific business problems.
  • Develop and maintain AI-powered data pipelines for handling structured and unstructured documents using AWS Bedrock and related AWS services.
  • Condense large model behaviors into smaller, custom multimodal models that process both text and images, training them manually.
  • Assess and deploy automation tools to improve corporate compliance workflows.
  • Partner with cross-functional groups to define requirements, engineer features, tune models, and conduct code reviews.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and quality are maintained throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Integrate AI functionalities into products by collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • Stay updated on new AI and data technologies to improve existing tools and processes.
  • Provide technical guidance during code reviews to uphold best practices in AI and data engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Five to seven years of professional experience in AI or data engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Node.js.
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and pipeline orchestration.
  • Solid grasp of the mathematical principles behind training AI models, including loss functions, optimization, attention mechanisms, and convolutional networks.
  • Clear understanding of transformer architecture and its training dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience in developing, tuning, and deploying machine learning models.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs or GraphQL.
  • Experience working within Scrum or Agile software development environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Next.js and TypeScript.
  • Knowledge of Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF).
  • Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Exposure to large language models or generative AI techniques.
  • Experience with advanced data visualization tools or analytics platforms.
