Vontobel seeks a Senior AI Engineer to design and operate its enterprise AI platform on Microsoft AI Foundry and Azure. This pro-code role focuses on building responsible, production-grade agentic and GenAI solutions in a regulated banking environment.
The company is looking for a senior engineer to take ownership of its enterprise AI platform built on Microsoft AI Foundry, Azure, and the Power Platform. This position sits at the core of the bank's responsible AI adoption, requiring the candidate to translate business needs into secure, reusable architectures while setting engineering standards for both pro-code and low-code teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production-ready agentic and generative AI systems on Microsoft AI Foundry, guiding them from initial prototypes to fully supported, observable, and governed services.
- Convert common business requirements into reusable reference architectures and standardized patterns, ensuring new projects leverage secure, proven foundations instead of starting from scratch.
- Establish pro-code engineering standards for AI within the team and mentor colleagues working across pro-code and low-code environments (such as Copilot Studio and the Power Platform) to ensure best practices scale effectively.
- Simplify the secure and compliant development path for business teams by embedding enablement and self-service capabilities into the platform, reducing reliance on manual support.
- Integrate governance, data classification, identity management, and responsible AI guardrails directly into the engineering process, applying sound judgment to determine what should or should not be built in a regulated banking context.
Requirements
- Proven experience moving at least one agentic or generative AI system from prototype to production within a sensitive or regulated environment, including ongoing operational responsibility.
- Strong pro-code engineering skills with advanced proficiency in Python for AI and agent development, plus production software experience in either C#/.NET or TypeScript.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft AI Foundry and Azure AI services, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), orchestration, evaluation, and agent design patterns.
- A first-principles mindset regarding security, data boundaries, and architectural trade-offs, with the confidence to advise business teams against certain approaches when necessary.
- A demonstrated history of elevating team engineering standards and mentoring colleagues through technical leadership, rather than relying solely on individual contributions.
- Fluent English is mandatory; German proficiency is highly valued due to frequent collaboration with business stakeholders.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and the Power Platform, including Copilot Studio, is considered a plus.
