Associate Director, Program and Alliance Management - Discovery to Phase II

Monte Rosa Therapeutics seeks an Associate Director to oversee internal and partnered biotech programs from discovery through Phase II clinical development in Basel.

This position is responsible for directing the execution of early-stage research and clinical initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with program leaders to advance the company's pipeline while managing both internal efforts and external alliances.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute Integrated Development Plans for designated projects.
  • Track program progress to ensure timely delivery and accountability.
  • Pinpoint critical path activities and streamline execution while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Anticipate potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee issue resolution and keep all stakeholders updated on outcomes.
  • Align communication with internal teams and external partners regarding project status, plans, and deadlines.
  • Build strong relationships with external alliance counterparts to coordinate joint meetings and fulfill contractual duties.
  • Organize program and alliance meetings, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, and tracking action items.
  • Manage cross-functional timelines, deliverables, risk registers, and dashboards.
  • Lead governance processes to facilitate decision-making and risk/benefit analysis.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to develop and manage program budgets.

Requirements

  • MSc or Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related discipline.
  • At least six years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Three to five years managing cross-functional projects and alliances from discovery through early clinical stages.
  • Solid understanding of research and preclinical drug development.
  • Proven ability to work within matrix organizations and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong management, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the IND preparation process.
