Revolution Medicines seeks an Associate Director to lead congress strategy and event execution for Midsized Markets in Basel, reporting to the VP of General Manager.
This position sits within the expanding Midsized Markets division and reports directly to the Vice President of General Manager for the region. The role is essential for defining and implementing the company’s presence at major national and international scientific meetings, while also directing the planning and delivery of internal gatherings. By aligning strategic goals with precise operational execution, the incumbent collaborates closely with regional and global event teams, marketing, medical affairs, and external partners to ensure successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Direct the strategic planning and complete execution of the congress calendar for Midsized Markets.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of national congresses, including annual planning, on-site execution, and post-event analysis.
- Oversee local external and internal events, such as cycle meetings, from initial planning through evaluation.
- Act as the main liaison for all congress-related activities within the Midsized Markets region.
- Facilitate cross-functional planning sessions to define timelines, milestones, and communication protocols.
- Assist the medical team with logistical coordination for symposia and investigator meetings.
- Handle all aspects of congress delivery, including exhibit strategy, vendor management, booth experience, and on-site operations.
- Plan logistics for registration, accommodation, hospitality, and venue partnerships.
- Create and control congress budgets, focusing on accurate forecasting and cost efficiency.
- Introduce innovative and sustainable methods to improve engagement and presence at scientific meetings.
- Align congress strategies with broader omnichannel engagement initiatives.
- Manage vendor and agency relationships, including selection, scope definition, and performance reviews.
- Coordinate booth staffing, training materials, and on-site support for both virtual and physical events.
- Drive post-congress activities, including debriefs, performance tracking, and insight generation.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, industry codes, and legal regulations.
- Plan and execute internal events, coordinating attendee schedules across the congress calendar.
- Partner with logistics providers to manage travel, accommodation, and on-site operations.
- Oversee the creation of event materials, delegate kits, and support plans.
- Uphold the company’s core values in all congress and event activities.
- Develop internal congress guides, briefing documents, and post-congress summary reports.
- Track congress deliverables and budgets, resolving issues as they arise.
- Manage documentation for vendor contracts, content approvals, and HCP interactions.
- Support transparency reporting for scientific meetings and congresses.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Extensive experience leading end-to-end planning and execution of congresses and large-scale events in the biotech sector.
- Deep understanding of global healthcare compliance frameworks and their application to congress activities.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, balancing competing priorities and timelines.
- Experience managing external vendors and agencies, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.
- Excellent English communication skills; German and French are advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally to support congresses and events as needed.
