PwC Zurich seeks a Junior Associate for its Pension & Benefits team to support actuarial modelling, pension plan design, and regulatory-compliant valuation for corporate and fund clients.

This role sits within a multi-disciplinary consultancy group at PwC Switzerland that emphasizes actuarial and quantitative expertise. The team provides advisory services to domestic and global corporate clients and pension funds, focusing on the design, valuation, and transformation of occupational pension schemes. Associates work closely with senior actuaries and technical specialists to handle complex financial calculations and strategic advisory topics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist corporate and pension fund clients with Swiss occupational pension schemes, covering plan design, optimization, compensation strategy, and transformation.
  • Conduct data-driven and financially sound analyses of pension plans.
  • Prepare technical reports, valuation documentation, and presentations highlighting financial and actuarial outcomes.
  • Partner with senior actuaries and consultants on complex projects, taking ownership of specific analytical workstreams.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency by developing tools, automating processes, and applying AI and advanced analytics.
  • Support business development efforts through presentation preparation and participation in internal and external initiatives.
  • Attend internal training sessions focused on technical and soft skills development.
  • Provide technical support based on expertise and interest, including actuarial valuations under IFRS or US GAAP, pension audits, quantitative analyses, benefit calculations, impact assessments, and benchmarking studies.

Requirements

  • University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or another highly quantitative discipline.
  • Strong analytical mindset capable of tackling complex problems in a structured manner.
  • Curiosity and adaptability to quickly adjust to new situations.
  • Interest in the pension and insurance industry, with motivation to pursue an actuarial career path.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German or French is mandatory.
  • Desire to expand beyond the core role and contribute to wider team initiatives.

Nice to have

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, VBA, Python, R, or similar platforms is highly valued.
