Zurich Insurance Group seeks a Senior P&C Insurance & Model Risk Specialist in Zürich to conduct independent model validations and provide quantitative risk insights within the Commercial Insurance Risk team.
This position sits within the Commercial Insurance Risk team under Group Risk Management. The primary purpose is to support second-line reviews of insurance and model risk, ensuring independent model validation activities are robust. The specialist provides critical, risk-based insights to various stakeholders to enhance the company's risk governance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent quantitative reviews and challenge first-line activities related to P&C insurance.
- Assist in building and maintaining strong Risk Governance frameworks.
- Perform top-down quantitative analysis to assess insurance risks independently.
- Draft reports and documentation for risk assessment purposes.
- Validate P&C-related models independently.
- Run validation tests to pinpoint model weaknesses and limitations.
- Create validation reports and supporting documentation.
- Offer professional advice and quantitative risk insights to stakeholders.
- Help shape the annual risk review and model validation plan.
- Provide guidance on prioritizing model development projects.
- Support colleagues through peer reviews of insurance risk assessments.
- Join group-wide initiatives to improve Zurich’s insurance and model risk management.
- Prepare reports for regulators, external auditors, and internal committees.
- Develop and deliver training for Risk Management professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Actuarial qualification in progress, or recently/nearly qualified with a recognized body.
- At least five years of relevant experience in the insurance sector.
- Solid grasp of P&C actuarial concepts including reserving, pricing, accumulation, and capital modeling.
- Knowledge of risk and statistical methodologies.
- Strong data literacy, analytics, and visualization capabilities.
- Awareness of risks within insurance products and models.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including with senior leadership.
- Fluent English proficiency in both speaking and writing.

- Experience in P&C across multiple functions such as pricing, reserving, accumulation, or capital management.
- Strong business acumen.
- Understanding of AI modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in actuarial software and programming.
