Assistant Underwriter, Europe Treaty Division

Allied World Assurance seeks a Junior Assistant Underwriter in Zug to support the European Treaty Division with reinsurance portfolio management, data analysis, and broker coordination.

This position assists the Reinsurance team in managing the European casualty treaty portfolio. The role involves helping underwriters review pricing models, contributing to strategic underwriting decisions, and ensuring smooth operational workflows for renewals and new business.

Responsibilities

• Gather, organize, and archive public data required for upcoming renewal cycles.
• Retrieve and share submission materials, including modeling and pricing data, for both new accounts and renewals.
• Communicate with brokers to collect missing information before binding and handle general correspondence afterward.
• Keep underwriting files organized and ensure all documentation follows the team’s specific filing protocols.
• Help the underwriting team input reinsurance wordings into the company’s internal reinsurance system.
• Oversee the renewal tracker at the start of the year and generate reports on deal flow and bound contracts after renewals.
• Submit monthly accounting adjustments to the Finance department and address any related queries.
• Collaborate closely with the Claims team on live and historical cases, including loss estimates, settlements, and client inquiries.
• Conduct portfolio analysis to spot potential opportunities or areas of concern.
• Build a comprehensive understanding of the reinsurance market and the roles of various participants.

Requirements

• Fluency in English is mandatory, along with professional proficiency in either German or French, both written and spoken.
• Strong organizational abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an articulate and personable demeanor.
• Proactive approach to customer service, maintaining high standards when interacting with clients and brokers.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong analytical capabilities to interpret data and support decision-making.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Self-motivated attitude with a drive to achieve goals.
• Proficiency in using MS Office applications.
