ABB Power Grids seeks a Bid Specialist in Molinazzo, Switzerland, to manage technical tendering for dry-type transformers and inductors, bridging sales and engineering teams.
This position supports the company’s mission of advancing a sustainable energy future by handling the technical and financial aspects of bidding processes. The specialist creates preliminary designs and cost estimates for dry-type transformers and inductors based on customer needs, while serving as the primary technical liaison between the sales department and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze customer specifications to determine technical tender requirements
- Develop initial product designs and prepare technical sheets with proposed solutions for proposal documentation
- Generate precise cost estimates and define material needs within the ERP system
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to secure accurate pricing information
- Submit cost estimates to the bid and proposal team on schedule
- Maintain up-to-date technical and costing data throughout the entire deal lifecycle
- Provide technical support during bid revisions or negotiations
- Ensure clear and timely communication with all tender stakeholders
Requirements
- University degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, or equivalent vocational training
- Fluent proficiency in English
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills
- Self-starter mentality with ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for short trips
Nice to have
- Prior experience in a similar role, particularly with relevant technical skills
- Knowledge of SAP, CAD, and AI
- Fluent Italian language skills
