Cable Installation Technician, Infrastructure Delivery

Amazon Switzerland seeks a Junior Cable Installation Technician in Zürich for its Infrastructure Delivery team. This onsite role focuses on the physical deployment and testing of data center cabling systems.

This entry-level position supports the Infrastructure Delivery team in scaling and physically deploying new data center infrastructure. The role operates within innovative, fast-paced data center environments, ensuring that physical network connections are installed and verified to high standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and test both copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
• Apply labels and barcodes to cables and equipment for proper identification.
• Manage inventory levels for related installation materials.
• Lift and position objects weighing up to 35 lbs regularly.
• Work at heights and use ladders as part of daily tasks.
• Follow standard operating procedures and escalation protocols.
• Travel within the designated geographical work area as needed.

Requirements

• Possess basic knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Have general computer literacy and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Be capable of lifting or moving up to 35 lbs on a daily basis.
• Comfortable working at heights or using ladders for extended periods.
• Maintain a strong attention to detail and adhere to high quality standards.

Nice to have

• Understanding of copper and fiber optic testing methodologies.
• Ability to interpret basic layout drawings and floorplans.
• Industry standard certifications such as CompTIA or City & Guilds Cabling.
• Prior experience working in a data center environment.
• Familiarity with using ticketing systems.
