Data Center Technician

Microsoft is hiring a Junior Data Center Technician in Zürich for an onsite, full-time role within its Cloud Operations & Innovation team.

This position supports the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) group, which underpins major services such as Azure, Office 365, Bing, Xbox, and OneDrive. The technician will learn and apply standard procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning hardware equipment.

Responsibilities

• Escalate issues, ask questions, and seek guidance to ensure timely problem resolution.
• Attend daily safety briefings and finish all role-specific training modules.
• Resolve assigned tickets efficiently, adhering to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Follow all security and data management policies, including completing mandatory security training.
• Keep a strong client focus to understand how tasks impact service delivery.
• Share information with colleagues and participate in regular team meetings to foster a positive work environment.
• Take ownership of service quality, completeness, and the overall state of data center facilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, vocational apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fundamental understanding of computer hardware and its components.
• Ability to pass Microsoft, customer, or government security screening checks.
• Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud background check at hire and every two years thereafter.

Nice to have

• Prior experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
• A valid driving license.
