The International Organization for Migration seeks a Data Management Officer to oversee global data workflows for the Displacement Tracking Matrix in Geneva.
This position is responsible for managing and supporting data management activities and workflows for the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) on a global scale. The role ensures accurate and controlled data flows between country, regional, and global offices, reporting to the Information Management Officer and the Senior DTM Coordination Officer.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to the global DTM support team and field teams regarding data collection and tabulation.
- Deploy and maintain the global DTM survey and tracking systems for operations worldwide.
- Ensure that published DTM data on IOM websites and portals adheres to established standards.
- Establish and enforce data quality control mechanisms for DTM operations globally.
- Contribute to responsible data practices, including governance, protection, security, and ethics.
- Support the creation and adaptation of standard operating procedures for field data collection.
- Design and implement Kobo forms to facilitate field operations.
- Prepare tabulations for technical reports and information products related to displacement and migration.
- Research and evaluate new applications and technologies for information management in emergencies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Demographics, Information Management, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a university degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in global data consolidation from various databases and datasets.
- Experience in managing or working with DTM data, datasets, and databases.
- Experience in complex data quality control operations/mechanisms.
- Experience in development, refinement, and implementation of population database systems.
- Excellent knowledge of databases management, querying, quality assurance and control systems.
- Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Googledocs suite, SQL, Kobo and PowerBI.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of other BI platforms such as PowerBI or Tableau.
- Proficiency in two or more of: XLSforms for ODK and Kobo, Access, Python, Stata, R.
- Working knowledge of French, and/or of an official UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish).
