The International Organization for Migration seeks a Programme Officer in Geneva to support Resettlement and Movement Management projects, focusing on administrative coordination, training delivery, and technical assistance for complementary pathways and protection mainstreaming.
Based within the Movement Operations pillar at IOM's Geneva Headquarters, this position supports the Resettlement and Movement Management unit under the guidance of senior leadership. The role exists to facilitate the administration, development, and coordination of projects related to resettlement and movement management, ensuring effective institutional alignment and capacity building across global operations.
Responsibilities
- Administer RMM projects by assisting with country assessments and helping implement activities that build or enhance resettlement programs.
- Review and endorse project proposals for Country Offices outside the EEA that involve resettlement or movement components.
- Conduct training sessions and offer guidance to personnel regarding RMM strategies, institutional policies, and project design for complementary pathways and protection mainstreaming.
- Collaborate with internal IOM divisions to arrange meetings, prepare meeting summaries, and encourage coordination on resettlement and complementary pathways.
- Support capacity-building efforts by delivering training and aiding communities of practice with frameworks and tools for complementary pathways and protection mainstreaming.
- Coordinate with the RMM unit, the Migrant Protection Unit, and other HQ divisions to update policies on managing and transporting vulnerable migrants.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for communications and public information activities, including creating slide decks, press releases, talking points, situation reports, and newsletters.
- Design infographics showcasing program achievements in resettlement, complementary pathways, and protection mainstreaming for the RMM Portal and other platforms.
- Prepare for and join regular calls with country offices, bilateral meetings with UNHCR and other stakeholders, and donor meetings.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Political or Social Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field, plus two years of relevant professional experience; or a Bachelor's degree with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Prior experience in providing administrative and logistical support, project development, or working for an organization providing humanitarian assistance.
- Experience in research, writing, outreach, data collection and analysis as well as communications.
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting.
- Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
