The International Organization for Migration seeks a Programme Officer to support Resettlement and Movement Management projects in Geneva, focusing on project implementation, strategy monitoring, and cross-unit coordination.
This position supports the organization's core mandate to organize the movement of individuals requiring international migration assistance. The officer works under the Head of RMM and the Senior Programme Coordinator to help execute Resettlement and Movement Management initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Help execute RMM projects by carrying out goals outlined in programme documents, such as conducting country assessments and building or enhancing refugee resettlement frameworks.
- Review and endorse project proposals, appeals, and response plans for Country Offices outside the EEA that involve resettlement or movement elements.
- Guide and supervise team members on RMM strategy execution, institutional policies, and project development.
- Coordinate with internal IOM divisions to arrange meetings, draft summaries, gather data, and prepare talking points.
- Support the rollout and tracking of the RMM Strategy.
- Help integrate institutional policies into RMM activities by creating and distributing guidance materials and tools.
- Provide logistical and administrative backing for RMM communications, including drafting press notes, situation reports, newsletters, and presentation slides.
- Create visual infographics highlighting programme successes for the RMM Portal and other platforms.
- Represent the unit at external events alongside UN agencies, governments, intergovernmental bodies, and private sector partners.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Political or Social Science, International Relations, Law, or a related discipline, plus two years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's degree in these fields with four years of relevant experience.
- Proven background in project development or working within humanitarian assistance organizations.
- Skills in research, writing, outreach, data collection, analysis, and communications.
- Experience operating in multicultural environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design software.
- Understanding of IOM's role in resettlement and movement operations.
- Fluent command of English, both spoken and written.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an advantage.
