Cigarette Designer

The company is seeking a Senior Cigarette Designer in Neuchatel, CH, to develop smoke-free product concepts and prototypes. The role focuses on transforming the business through innovative design and data-driven iteration.

This position supports the company's strategic shift toward smoke-free products by creating and refining cigarette and filter designs. The role provides the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that meet consumer expectations while advancing your career within a global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Create cigarette and filter designs from initial concept to final production.
  • Develop prototypes that align with product targets and intended consumer experiences.
  • Translate design ideas into practical development plans and testable solutions.
  • Analyze performance data to identify key drivers and refine designs accordingly.
  • Ensure prototypes meet technical targets and are robust for manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Markets, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to bring designs into production.
  • Resolve technical issues to maintain consistency between design intent and manufacturing reality.
  • Improve design development, testing, and delivery processes to ensure reliable product performance.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in a technical or scientific field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in cigarette/filter design, production, or product development within FMCG.
  • Strong expertise in process/manufacturing engineering, materials science, or quality/analytical roles.
  • Experience with prototyping, product performance, and material-process interactions.
  • Ability to understand cause-effect relationships between design and performance.
  • Strong analytical thinking and comfort working with data.
  • Structured work approach with clear communication skills.
  • Ability to work with different teams to move work forward.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trial, data, and iteration.
  • Ability to connect design decisions to real product performance.
  • Ownership from problem definition to implementation.
  • Ability to learn quickly and figure things out independently.
  • Understanding of both details and the bigger picture.
  • Expertise to ensure challenges assumptions with data.
  • Ability to take responsibilities and ensure deliverables/products that perform consistently for consumers.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.
