Sr Scientist Consumer Sciences Projects

The company is seeking a Senior Scientist for Consumer Sciences Projects in Neuchatel, CH. This role focuses on driving R&D innovation for smoke-free products through behavioral science, consumer testing, and regulatory compliance.

This position plays a key part in the company's strategic shift toward smoke-free alternatives. The scientist will lead research initiatives, develop consumer-centric testing frameworks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate consumer insights into technical product goals. By bridging behavioral science and product development, the role supports the creation of innovative, compliant products that meet regulatory standards and consumer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end consumer science initiatives for R&D platforms, ensuring accurate measurement tools and methodologies are developed.
• Design and manage consumer testing programs that integrate insights into fast-paced innovation cycles.
• Coordinate cross-functional projects focused on product and sensory experiences from a consumer viewpoint.
• Advocate for consumer needs by translating them into technical targets for global projects.
• Develop and implement comprehensive consumer testing regimes across research projects.
• Internal and external team coordination to guide R&D efforts toward consumer-relevant outcomes.
• Provide scientific leadership for Clinical and RWE studies, including COA strategy design and behavioral methodology implementation.
• Create and refine behavioral methodologies and processes to support Product Science research.
• Lead strategic planning, including proposing new research areas and shaping the methodological roadmap for Behavioral Science and COA.
• Ensure study delivery meets scientific rigor, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance standards.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in behavioral, health, or social sciences (e.g., Psychology, Social Sciences, Survey Methodology, Psychometrics, Public Health, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology).
• At least 5 years of R&D experience in pharmaceutical, tobacco, food, or cosmetics industries.
• Proven experience in COA development and validation projects.
• Familiarity with COA requirements for regulatory agencies, including US FDA Patient Reported Outcomes Guidance.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills in multi-functional environments.
• Excellent planning and project management abilities.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
