Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG in Basel seeks a Clinical Sciences Trial Leader or Senior Clinical Sciences Trial Leader to plan and execute early-phase translational medicine trials onsite.
The Clinical Sciences and Innovation group at Novartis is a dynamic team responsible for planning and executing early-phase clinical trials on a global scale. In this role, you will support or lead the clinical science and operational aspects of translational medicine studies, ensuring they are designed and run efficiently while prioritizing patient interests. This position is based at the Novartis headquarters in Basel and requires onsite work.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific and operational leadership for complex clinical studies.
- Manage global trial execution from initial design and setup through recruitment and final reporting.
- Lead matrix-managed global clinical trial teams, collaborating internally and with external partners like service providers and investigator sites.
- Develop clinical study protocols, clinical operations execution plans, and other necessary documentation.
- Ensure quality standards and documentation practices are maintained throughout the clinical trial lifecycle.
- Lead clinical data review processes (for Senior Clinical Sciences Trial Leader role).
- Support clinical data review activities (for Clinical Sciences Trial Leader role).
- Contribute to project or program-level planning (for Senior Clinical Sciences Trial Leader role).
- Mentor junior team members when applicable.
- Support the optimization of standard methodologies in clinical trial operations and foster an environment of open learning and sharing.
- Leverage data and digital tools to enhance clinical studies.
Requirements
- A minimum of a BSc in life sciences is required; an MSc, PharmD, or PhD is preferred.
- Clinical Sciences Trial Leader: 2-4 years of experience in clinical trial management/operations, with broad knowledge of drug development, preferably in the pharma industry.
- Senior Clinical Sciences Trial Leader: 4+ years of experience in clinical trial management/operations, with broad knowledge of drug development, preferably in the pharma industry.
- Clinical Sciences Trial Leader: Demonstrated leadership potential and strong interpersonal skills.
- Senior Clinical Sciences Trial Leader: Proven leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills.
- A track record of collaborating with and influencing a wide range of stakeholders and building strong partnerships.
- Strong project management experience with excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills; accustomed to managing multiple priorities concurrently.
- High change agility, thriving in an open and dynamic environment.
- Ability to learn proactively, tackle issues, and take accountability.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; an active communicator.
Nice to have
- Experience in study design and protocol development/writing is highly desirable.
