The FIFA Museum in Zürich seeks a Competition Manager to lead match operations for FIFA tournaments, ensuring high-quality delivery and volunteer program development.
This position serves as the central project lead for match operations within FIFA tournaments. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the preparation, execution, and delivery of matches in strict adherence to established guidelines and best practices, while also driving key operational improvements.
Responsibilities
- Direct the planning and execution of FIFA matches and tournaments, ensuring compliance with Match Operations Guidelines, IFAB Laws of the Game, and industry standards.
- Serve as the primary project lead for Competition Management Project (CPM) match operations, managing on-site execution and preparation phases.
- Create, establish, and expand the Volunteer Programme specifically for Competition Management.
- Lead and contribute to strategic development projects, including the implementation of competition tools, process improvements, equipment updates, and draw logistics.
- Manage assigned CPM sub-projects to ensure timely delivery, budget adherence, and high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, providing administrative and strategic support to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
- Four to six years of professional experience in competition management, match operations, or event/project management, preferably within football tournaments.
- Proven project leadership capabilities with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, international setting.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, coupled with proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of football regulations, competition frameworks, and the IFAB Laws of the Game.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel and assume on-site operational duties as required.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in additional FIFA languages is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with various project management tools is beneficial.
