Baer AG seeks a Compliance Officer for Private Banking in Zürich. The role focuses on high-risk client onboarding, AML investigations, and fostering a strong compliance culture within the wealth management division.
This position is designed to support the future of wealth management by empowering staff to act entrepreneurially and make a meaningful impact. The Compliance Officer will guide the team in navigating regulatory landscapes while maintaining high standards of integrity and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews for high-risk client onboarding, assessing Know Your Customer (KYC) and financial crime risks.
- Advise relationship managers and leadership on compliance matters, ensuring proper implementation and supervision.
- Carry out Anti-Money Laundering (AML) investigations as needed.
- Evaluate and update local policies and procedures when necessary.
- Detect and investigate significant compliance breaches.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align compliance efforts.
- Promote a strong compliance mindset among employees to reduce legal, regulatory, sanctions, and reputational risks.
- Assist with compliance projects and track progress on internal and regulatory audits.
- Develop and deliver training materials and sessions on compliance and AML topics.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in law, economics, business administration, or a banking-related field.
- Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in client onboarding, audit, or compliance roles.
- Demonstrate solid understanding of Swiss regulations, especially AML rules and client documentation standards.
- Have good knowledge of Emerging Markets (Middle East, Africa, NRI) and/or Asia.
- Be proficient in MS Office and show an aptitude for IT systems.
- Display strong organizational, operational, and communication abilities.
- Work effectively under pressure with excellent analytical, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Write clear, concise assessments while maintaining high integrity and discretion.
- Work independently and efficiently with a meticulous, solution-oriented approach.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.

- Proficiency in additional languages is a strong advantage.
