Computer Security Architect (IT-DI-CSO-2026-190-GRAE)

CERN seeks an Entry Level Computer Security Architect in Geneva to support its Security Operations Centre, focusing on cloud security and incident response infrastructure.

This position supports the CERN Computer Security Office by enhancing the Security Operations Centre's capabilities. The role is responsible for securing contracted external cloud services and maintaining the infrastructure used for incident detection and response.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, support, and extend the Computer Security Office's incident detection and response infrastructure based on open source technologies.
  • Configure external cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle) to maximize security settings.
  • Review the security posture and configuration of existing Microsoft and Google SaaS cloud configurations.
  • Contribute to other computer security projects managed by the Office.
  • Provide advice and consultancy in matters of computer security, including performing penetration testing.

Requirements

  • Experience in design of networks as well as knowledge of communication technologies and protocols.
  • Experience in administration of computing systems as well as installation, operation and maintenance of computing systems.
  • Experience in computer security, secure configurations, security analysis and penetration testing, and cloud services.
  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Must have a University degree; applicants without one are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Nice to have

  • Experience in monitoring and responding to security threats and incidents for ICT systems.
  • Knowledge of other programming languages or technologies beyond Python and C.
