Electrical & Automation Technician

The company seeks a mid-level Electrical & Automation Technician in Lausanne to support pilot plant operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and optimal performance of electrical and automation systems.

This position belongs to the Strategic Research Operations unit at Nestlé Research in Lausanne. The role provides technical support to the pilot plant and associated laboratories, focusing on maintaining electrical systems, process instrumentation, automation, and calibration while upholding strict safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pilot plant instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and reduce planned and unplanned downtime
• Execute instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and on-call support activities
• Coordinate with Pilot Plant, laboratory users, QA, Engineering, and Safety teams to resolve E&A issues
• Perform first-level E&A diagnostics and determine internal repair or external service solutions
• Maintain and apply calibration SOPs, technical documentation, and corporate engineering standards
• Produce data analytics reports and communicate insights using digital tools and dashboards
• Support automation projects, commissioning activities, and the introduction of new technologies
• Apply strict safety, food safety, and quality standards with zero tolerance for unsafe situations

Requirements

• Electrical and/or automation technician diploma or equivalent qualification
• Minimum three years’ experience in instrumentation, automation, or E&A within an R&D or industrial environment
• Strong expertise in process instrumentation, calibration, process control, and loop tuning
• Working knowledge of PLC/HMI programming, electrical safety, and maintenance practices
• Fluent in English and French, both spoken and written

Nice to have

• Experience in food processing technologies, hygienic engineering, and food safety environments
