The role involves leading a team that builds and maintains cloud-native infrastructure, enabling product teams to ship quickly and safely. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for people development, with a hybrid work model and global work-from-anywhere options.
The Infrastructure Platform team at GetYourGuide creates and maintains the cloud and container-based platform and datastores that support all product teams. Acting as 'engineers for engineers', they design abstractions, paved paths, and self-service tools to help other teams deliver safely and rapidly. The goal is to provide a reliable, opinionated platform that empowers teams to move fast, experiment, and take risks with confidence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all engineering hiring and performance management, supporting engineers in reaching their full potential
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to shape the team’s roadmap and portfolio, driving impactful delivery
- Develop and maintain standardized, opinionated pathways and abstraction layers for mission-critical teams
- Promote platform engineering best practices and operational excellence across the broader engineering organization
Requirements
- Proven technical experience in cloud-native platform engineering environments
- Strong ownership mindset, aligning technical and project plans with stakeholders and team members for successful delivery
- Ability to approach complex challenges with an open mind and a focus on simplicity
- Passion for supporting and coaching engineers without micromanaging
Nice to have
- Experience in scale-up or high-growth environments, scaling projects from inception across an organization
- Background in building platforms for engineering organizations of 500+ people
- Experience in technical product management or ownership, especially for internal platform products serving engineering teams
