Scandit seeks an Engineering Manager for its Platform team in Zürich, CH, to lead cloud infrastructure and CI/CD operations in a hybrid environment. The role involves mentoring teams, improving engineering velocity, and driving cross-functional initiatives in security and compliance.

The Platform Engineering team manages the cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipeline ecosystem used by the entire engineering organization. It focuses on improving efficiency and delivery speed, leveraging modern tools including AI-assisted workflows. As Scandit grows, this role offers expanding responsibilities, including potential leadership of additional engineering initiatives or teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop your engineering team.
  • Provide structure and clarity in planning, execution, and reporting processes.
  • Manage and continuously improve the cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Drive cross-team efforts in security and compliance, such as reducing Snyk vulnerabilities and supporting ISO-related goals.
  • Enhance security, reliability, and cost efficiency through disciplined processes and clear ownership.
  • Define roadmaps, milestones, and progress tracking (e.g. OKRs) to ensure stakeholders understand plans, risks, and delivery status.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align priorities and deliver shared goals.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks to increase engineering speed and efficiency.
  • Take on additional leadership responsibilities and cross-team projects as the company expands.

Requirements

  • A pragmatic engineering leader who brings clarity and predictability to complex technical work.
  • Strong experience in project and program management, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Proven track record leading DevOps or SRE teams in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, GitLab, or similar).
  • Ability to lead cross-team initiatives and see them through to completion, especially in security and compliance areas.
  • Capability to engage with engineers at all levels and offer broad technical guidance.
  • Experience managing distributed teams with effective communication practices.
  • Minimum of 3 years in software engineering and 5+ years in team leadership roles.
  • Commitment to high-quality engineering standards and a people-first leadership approach.
