English as an Additional Language Teacher (Minnows: Ages 4–6) (both sessions)

TASIS American School Switzerland seeks a Junior EAL Teacher for its Minnows Program (ages 4–6) in Lugano. This full-time, onsite role involves teaching English to young learners using play-based methods.

The position supports the TASIS Minnows Program, which serves children aged 4 to 6. The curriculum employs a child-directed, whole-brain methodology that prioritizes creativity and play-based learning, adapting to each child's individual pace.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a complete teaching schedule five days each week.
• Supervise or lead afternoon sports and recreational activities.
• Coordinate with parents, students, and colleagues as needed.
• Participate in special evening events and other program activities.
• Chaperone student trips within the Lugano region.
• Maintain a full-day presence on days involving student arrival and departure.
• Complete additional administrative or program duties assigned by the Summer Programs Director.
• Manage student records and follow all policies outlined in the Staff Handbook.

Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrate experience in early childhood education with a focus on English/EAL instruction.
• Show prior experience leading or supervising child activities, such as in camps or after-school programs.
• Hold a valid passport from an EU member state.
• Have a background in English or prior experience teaching English as an Additional Language.
• Be available for the entire duration of the first summer program session.

Nice to have

• Previous experience working with or teaching children between the ages of 4 and 6.
