Global SCM Material Sustainability Lead (f/m/d)

The company is seeking a Senior Global SCM Material Sustainability Lead to manage the material sustainability pillar for its Transformers Business Unit. This remote role focuses on strategy, compliance, and supplier engagement to advance environmental goals.

In this position, the company will entrust you with steering the material sustainability pillar for the Transformers Business Unit. The role exists to align environmental impact assessments with business objectives and regulatory demands while driving progress across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Steer the supply chain sustainability strategy with a specific focus on material-related initiatives and business alignment.
  • Keep track of emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and customer needs, weaving them into operational plans.
  • Standardize material sustainability workflows and ensure they are effectively deployed throughout the supply chain.
  • Spearhead improvement projects, such as decarbonization efforts and supplier collaboration programs.
  • Measure sustainability performance and foster continuous improvement using data-driven insights.
  • Create and maintain material sustainability data to support consistent Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) evaluations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to promote emission reductions and sustainable practices.
  • Provide training and share best practices across the supply chain management community.
  • Apply and align methodologies for evaluating material environmental impacts in accordance with evolving standards.
  • Assist with supplier requirements, material selection, environmental claims, and customer sustainability inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in supply chain management, with a dedicated focus on sustainability.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing strategies and roadmaps, ideally within global or large-scale organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of materials sustainability standards, including ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14067, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and similar frameworks.
  • Extensive background in conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), generating Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), and implementing global sustainability programs for materials and suppliers.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a history of executing strategic initiatives in complex, international settings.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and inspire change at all organizational levels.
