Grains & Oilseeds Business Controller

Swisslinx seeks a Senior Grains & Oilseeds Business Controller in Lausanne to lead financial reporting, budgeting, and Middle Office operations within a dynamic international trading environment.

This position serves as the primary business partner for the Grains & Oilseeds division, guaranteeing the precision and reliability of all financial data. The incumbent acts as the Business Process Owner for Controlling, bridging the gap between trading activities and financial oversight while managing the Middle Office team.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily and monthly financial reporting cycles.
• Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting workflows.
• Enhance and maintain robust internal control frameworks.
• Supervise a two-person Middle Office and Controlling team.
• Oversee Middle Office duties, including contract reconciliation, trading position tracking, FX hedge monitoring, and P&L/risk analysis.
• Lead monthly closing procedures, such as Mark-to-Market valuations, realized P&L reviews, and Gross Margin reconciliations.
• Develop monthly and quarterly management reports alongside business performance analyses.
• Collaborate with Trading and Operations leaders to deliver actionable financial insights.
• Ensure strict compliance and control integrity throughout the Trade-to-Cash lifecycle.
• Create and update Controlling documentation, including process maps, user guides, templates, and training resources.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance and controlling processes.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Approximately ten years of experience in a commodity trading setting.
• Deep knowledge of front-to-back commodity trading operations.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Prior background in Grains and/or Oilseeds markets.
• Experience in Middle Office, Controlling, or Trade Accounting roles.
• Ability to speak additional languages.
• Familiarity with Aspect CTRM software.
